This Side of Paris was formed in 2014. A jazz/swing trio, with lindsey Huchrak on vocals, Jim Marshall on guitar and Stash Huchrak on double bass. Together they play slick and stylish songs written by composers from 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Plus a few of their own compositions.
Lindsey Huchrak | Vocal
Lindsey grew up listening to the American Songbook as her Dad was a pianist in a Big Band, so she was influenced by the greats from the start and was fronting bands from the age of 17. Since then she has worked with some first rate musicians singing and interpreting jazz standards as well as writing her own material. Her last album ‘Cafe Days’ has a feel of the era she loves with its strong melodies and captivating lyrics but with a modern twist.
Lindsey has a powerful vocal style, rich in tone and depth and has an understated way of entertaining her audience which is intimate and engaging.
Stash Huchrak | Double Bass
Stash started playing bass in the 60’s and by the time he was 16 was introduced to jazz and immediately traded his electric bass for a double bass. Stash has worked as a session man on radio and TV and has performed in some successful bands over the years. He has produced, recorded and released two albums in his own right.
Stash’s bass playing has attack and precision, making him an exciting musician. His ethos is ‘less is more’ and him and Lindsey have developed a tight musical rapport over the years, which audiences find fascinating.
Jim Marshall | Guitar
After discovering blues then jazz at a very early age Jim played with a jazz youth orchestra and in rock bands in his teens. Since then he has continued to play and teach different styles of guitar including classical but his main interest has been in contemporary music, especially jazz.
Jim has recently joined This Side of Paris and has added a sophisticated flavour with his ability to pick out vocal melody lines for his solos and subtle arrangements.
